Thiruvalluvar University Applications Are Invited For the Post of Asst Professor

Applications (8 copies) are invited for appointment to the following posts in the Departments of the University.




Post:
DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH
1. Professor
Essential qualifications: As per UGC Norms
(i) M.A. degree in English with 55% of marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale)
(ii) An eminent Scholar with Ph.D. degree in the concerned / allied / relevant discipline and published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with a minimum of 10 publications as books and / or research/policy papers.
(iii) A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in University / College, and /or experience in research at the University / National Level institutions / industries, including experience of guiding candidates for research at doctoral level.
(iv) Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology-mediated, teaching learning process.

2. Associate Professor
Essential qualifications: As per UGC Norms
(i) PG degree in English with 55% of marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale).
(ii) Good academic record with a Ph.D. degree in English with a minimum of eight years of experience of teaching and/or research in an academic/ research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research Institution / industry excluding the period of Ph.D. research with evidence of published work.
(iii) Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology-mediated, teaching learning process with evidence guided doctoral candidates and research students.
Desirable qualifications: Specialization of ELT / Linguistics / Comparative Literature / Post-Colonial Literature / British / American Literature / Literary Criticism and Theory.

3. Assistant Professor
Essential qualifications: As per UGC Norms
(i) PG Degree in English with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade) from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign University.
(ii) Candidates must have cleared NET/SLET/SET or obtained Ph.D. degree in English.

DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS
1. Associate Professor
Essential qualifications: As per UGC Norms
(i) PG degree in Mathematics / Applied Mathematics with 55% of marks (or an equivalent grade) and Ph.D. Degree in Mathematics / Applied Mathematics.
(ii) A minimum of eight years of experience of teaching and/or research in an academic/ research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research Institution / industry excluding the period of Ph.D. research with evidence of published work.
(iii) A minimum of 5 research publications as books and/or research papers in refreed Journals.

2. Assistant Professor
Essential qualifications: As per UGC Norms
(i) PG degree in Mathematics / Applied Mathematics with 55% of marks (or an equivalent grade).
(ii) Candidates must have cleared NET/SLET/SET or obtained Ph.D. degree in Mathematics / Applied Mathematics.
Desirable qualifications:
(i) Specialization in the area of Algebra / Analysis / Geometry / Number Theory / Probability Theory.
(ii) Working knowledge in Mathematical softwares and Post Doctoral experience in the chosen field.

DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY
1. Assistant Professor
Essential qualifications: As per UGC Norms
(i) M.Sc. degree in Chemistry / Organic Chemistry with 55% of Marks (or an equivalent grade)
(ii) NET / SLET / SET qualification in the concerned subject (or) Ph.D. degree in Chemistry / Organic Chemistry.
Note: Preference will be given to candidates with M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry or Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry.

2. Associate Professor
Essential qualifications: As per UGC Norms M.Sc. degree with 55% marks in Chemistry / Organic Chemistry with Ph.D. Chemistry / Organic Chemistry and 8 years of teaching / research experience. A minimum of 5 publications as books and / or research papers.
Note: Preference will be given to candidates with Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry.

DEPARTMENT OF ZOOLOGY
1. Assistant Professor
Essential qualifications: As per UGC Norms
(i) A PG Degree in M.Sc. Zoology / M.Sc. Special Zoology / M.Sc. Animal Sciences / M.Sc. Wild Life Biology / M.Sc. Advanced Zoology / Animal Biotechnology with 55% of marks (or) a equivalent grade.
(ii) Candidates must have cleared NET/SLET/SET.
(iii) Candidates with Ph.D. degree are exempted from NET/SLET /SET qualification.
Desirable Qualifications: Ph.D. degree with research experience in Animal Physiology / Ecotoxicology.

2. Associate Professor
Essential qualifications: As per UGC Norms
(i) A PG Degree in M.Sc. Zoology / M.Sc. Special Zoology / M.Sc. Animal Sciences / M.Sc. Wild Life Biology / M.Sc. Advanced Zoology /Animal Bio-technology with 55% of marks (or) a equivalent grade.
(ii) Ph.D. degree in relevant discipline with good academic record.
(iii) Eight years of teaching /Research Experience.
(iv) A minimum of five publications as books/Research articles/policy papers.
Desirable Qualifications: Ph.D. research experience in the area of Environmental Biology/Aquatic Biodiversity.

DEPARTMENT OF BIOTECHNOLOGY
1. Assistant Professor:
Essential qualifications: As per UGC Norms
(i) A PG degree in Biotechnology / Biochemistry / Molecular Biology / Microbiology / Genetics with 55% of Marks or an equivalent grade.
(ii) Candidates must have NET/SLET/SET qualification in the relevant subject.
(iii) Candidates with the Ph.D. degree in the relevant subject are exempted from NET/SLET/SET qualification.
Desirable Qualifications: Ph.D. Research experience in
(i) Biochemistry / Enzyme Technology / Plant Bio-technology
(ii) Microbiology / Industrial Microbial technology / Clinical-Medical Microbiology.
(iii) Bioinformatics / Systems Biology / Metobolomics / Nano-biotechnology

2. Associate Professor:
Essential qualifications and experience : As per UGC Norms
(i) A PG degree in Biotechnology / Biochemistry / Molecular Biology / Microbiology / Genetics with 55% of Marks or an equivalent grade.
(ii) Ph.D degree in any one of the above with good academic record.
(iii) Eight years of teaching / Research experience.
(iv) A minimum of five publications as books / Research articles / Policy papers.
Desirable Qualifications: Research experience in
1. Biochemistry / Enzyme Technology / Plant Biotechnology.
2. Microbiology / Industrial Microbial technology / Clinical- Medical Microbiology
3. Bioinformatics / Systems Biology / Metabolomics / Nano-biotechnology.
