S.N. Bose National Centre - Ph.D Programme(BSc)

The S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences invites students with consistently excellent academic record (First Division/Class) to apply for admission into the Post B.Sc Integrated Ph.D Programme in Physical Sciences 2012. The students who apply are expected to be motivated to make a career in Research.



Basic Qualification :
First Class Division in B.Sc with Physics and Mathematics. Places where class or division are not offered, 60% marks in the aggregate or equivalent grades will be taken as First Class or division.

Eligibility for Interview :
Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their ranks in JEST 2012 and/or NGPE 2012 and/or Bose Test 2012. Those who have qualified in the BOSE TEST 2012 held on March 4, 2012 need not apply again. For the exact dates of Interview, please visit our website after 25th April 2012.

Monthly Stipend :
Students admitted to the programme receive a monthly stipend of Rs 12,000 during the first two years. To maintain the stipend the students need to have a minimum level of scholastic achievements in course work. The successful completion of the Course Work will lead to an M.Sc Degree by the University of Calcutta, and thereafter, upon meeting the eligibility criteria, the students will be inducted as JRF with a monthly fellowship of Rs.16,000 at the present rate at par with students admitted in the post-M.Sc PhD programme. The programme is strictly residential.
