Physical Research Laboratory - JRF (Ph.D. Programme) - B.Sc/M.Sc

Physical Research Laboratory (PRL) is a premier national research institution under the aegis of the Department of Space, Government of India. Founded in 1947 by Dr. Vikram A. Sarabhai, PRL is known to be the “cradle of space sciences” in India. The laboratory has four campuses, located at Ahmedabad, Mt. Abu and Udaipur.

Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) programme

Eligibility criteria :
 M.Sc. in one of the following subjects:
(1) Physics, Space Sciences, Atmospheric Sciences, Chemistry (Physical / Nuclear / Analytical), Geology, Geophysics, Ocean Sciences and Climate Sciences.
(2) The candidate must have taken Physics and Mathematics at the Under Graduate level.
(3) A minimum of 60% marks at Bachelor’s and Master’s level are required for all candidates.

Age Limit: Not more than 25 years as on 31st December 2012 (i.e., born on or after 31.12.1987).

Selection Procedure:
All the candidates interested in applying for PRL's JRF programme (leading to Ph.D. degree) are required to fill the online application form (application form and other details will be available soon on this webpage). This is also applicable to candidates applying through various competitive examinations like JEST/GATE/CSIR-UGC-NET-JRF.
All the invited candidates will appear in a written test except a few with high scores in JEST / GATE / UGC-CSIR NET - JRF. The level of test will be based on the Post Graduate syllabi of Indian Universities.
Those who qualify in the interview will be selected as JRFs at PRL. Candidates whose results are awaited at the time of interview will be admitted provisionally. They will be confirmed admission in PRL subject to their securing at least 60% marks in the qualifying examination i.e. M.Sc.
