The Maize Program of the International Maize and Wheat Improvement
Center (CIMMYT) is seeking applications from results-oriented, highly
motivated, and qualified candidates for the position of Special Project Scientist (Maize Statistical Genetics).

Qualifications/Requirements:
- MSc/PhD in Agricultural Statistics/ Statistics/ Plant Breeding/Genetics, with specialization in Statistical Genetics/Biometrical Genetics
- At least 2 years of experience in an applied breeding program
- Expertise in analysis of data from large-scale plant breeding/genetic mapping trials
- A solid foundation in statistical theory and with a strong interest in applied statistical analysis methodologies
- Previous experience of applying mixed-model methods for genetic evaluation is desirable, but not essential.
- Proficiency with applied statistical software (e.g., SAS, R, GENSTAT, etc.)
- Experience of working with large databases.
- Good understanding of plant breeding.
- Excellent communication skills in English
Qualifications/Requirements:
Ph.D. in Genetics/Plant Breeding, Crop Physiology or related field , with at least two years of relevant work experience.

- Excellent understanding of experimental design, and statistical software.
- Demonstrated ability to publish in refereed science journals of international repute.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English; ability to communicate in Hindi/Telugu is desirable.
- Excellent computer skills, and experience in statistical software.
- Demonstrated ability to work collegially and collaboratively in diverse team and multicultural partnerships.
- Willing to travel within and outside India, as and when needed.
Qualifications/Requirements
PhD in Agricultural Biotechnology/Molecular Biology/Plant
Breeding/Genetics, or related field of study, with at least 2 years of
experience in an applied breeding program.
Excellent laboratory skills/expertise in setting-up and
running plant molecular biology experiments (including high throughput
DNA extraction, PCR, gel-electrophoresis and data documentation).
Proficiency with data analysis software for QTL mapping, GWAS and MAS.
Experience of working with large molecular databases.
Good understanding of applied genetics and molecular plant breeding.
Previous hands-on working experience with molecular markers and MAS in breeding programs.
