Physical Research Laboratory - Summer Internship Program(ME/M.Tech/MSc)

Applications are invited from academically outstanding and highly motivated post-graduate students and college teachers for the Summer Internship Programme to be held at Physical Research Laboratory from May 14 to July 13, 2012. Under this programme, those interested in a research career after post graduation may avail opportunity to spend about eight weeks of summer vacations at PRL.



Eligibility criteria for students:
Only students completing their M.Sc. in Physics /Astronomy/Astrophysics/Solar Physics/ Climate Science/ Geology /Geophysics /Optics /Atmospheric Sciences / Laser Science & Technology, M.Tech. in Engineering Physics / Applied Physics / Applied Geology or equivalent degrees in 2013 and those completing the fourth year of an integrated M.Sc. or equivalent course in 2012 are eligible to apply for this programme.

Please note that the students studying in any branch of engineering are not eligible to apply in this programme.

Application must be forwarded through the Head of the institution. Any application received without the recommendation will not be considered.

The selected candidates will be informed through e-mail as well as by post on the address given by them in the application format. No interim quires in this connection will be entertained.

Eligibility criteria for teachers:
Teachers in Physics/Geology/Geophysics/Optics/Atmospheric Sciences/Applied Physics/Laser Science & Technology, teaching at post graduate / graduate level with interest in pursuing research in any of the areas of research available at PRL, are also invited to apply. Their application must be forwarded through the Head/Principal of the institution. The participants will work on projects in association with a faculty member in any of the four campuses.

The details of SIP2012 are as under;
For Students
Duration - May 14 - July 13, 2012
Fellowship & Facilities: `
5500/- pm on pro rata (minimum six weeks duration), return II- class sleeper train fare by the shortest route and hostel accommodation with canteen facilities on a nominal charge.

Essential Qualifications:
Consistent academic record with first Division or equivalent grade at Bachelor’s and Master’s level.
For Teachers
Duration - Up to 2 months (minimum 1 month), during May 14-July 13, 2012

Fellowship & Facilities: `
9000/- pm on pro-rata basis, return II-AC train fare by the shortest route and accommodation with canteen facilities on a nominal charge.

Essential Qualification: About 5 years teaching experience, demonstrated interest in research as evident by research publications / research projects.

Desirable Qualifications: Ph.D. degree.

How to Apply:

2. Applications received in the prescribed on-line format only will be considered (for students).
3. Upon registration, applicants will be provided with an on-line Registration Number, which should be carefully preserved for future reference. Unique e-mail ID of the applicant needs to be given in the application.
4. The on-line application for PG students has to be invariably followed-up with a recommendation letter from one or two faculty members familiar with student. Mark sheets / certificates are not needed.
5. Printed copy of an on-line application, duly forwarded by Head of the Department mentioning the Reg. No. on top of the filled application form, should be sent to the Head, Academic Services (headas@prl.res.in), Physical Research Laboratory, Navrangpura, Ahmedabad -380009.
6. for Teachers the application should contain full CV, one page write up about details of current research, courses taught and a list of research publications. Application must be forwarded by Head of the institution/college.
