Applications are invited for the Ph. D. program scheduled to commence from January 2012 in the following areas of basic sciences:
1. Biological/Life Sciences
2. Chemical Sciences
3. Mathematical Sciences
55% marks (50% for SC/ST) in Biological Sciences:
M. Sc. In Life/Biological Sciences or equivalent, including Biochemical, Biophysical, Biomathematical, Conservation or Ecological sciences.
B.Tech/M.Tech /MBBS degree holders may also apply.
The candidate MUST qualify National Eligibility Test (NET) with CSIR-JRF/UGC-JRF or DBT-JRF-A or ICMR-JRF or CSIR-LS, INSPIRE-Ph.D (with rank 1 to 500) OR have a valid GATE (rank <300).
55% marks (50% for SC/ST) in Chemical Sciences:
M. Sc. or equivalent degree in Chemistry/Physics/Biochemistry/Material Science/Bioinformatics/Pharmacy
The candidate should have qualified National Eligibility Test (NET) with CSIR-JRF/UGC-JRF, CSIR-LS, JEST or INSPIRE-Ph.D or GATE. The following ranks for GATE will be eligible.
Organic chemistry applicants: 1-500 ranks
Inorganic and Physical chemistry applicants: All ranks
55% marks (50% for SC/ST) in Mathematical Sciences:
M. A./M. Sc. Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science or M. Stat.
or M.Tech
The candidate MUST qualify National Eligibility Test (NET) with CSIR-JRF/UGC-JRF or have a valid GATE rank in Mathematics with more than 95 percentile or must have appeared for the NBHM Ph.D. screening test for the year 2011.
Candidates MUST have qualified the CSIR-NET/GATE/JEST/NBHM or equivalent national examination valid for the current academic year (2011) in the relevant area of research.
How to Apply/ Application Deadline
Candidates intending to apply to more than one program/Department should use separate application forms for each program/ Department.
Application forms have to be filled ONLINE between (Available from 27 September to 31 October, 2011)
Fill the online application form completely. Incomplete application forms may be rejected.
Attested copies of all supporting documents (mark sheets, certificates, age proof, caste certificate, etc.) are to be brought in at the time of the interview.
Please DO NOT Send recommendations along with the application. Please carry one photograph and one recommendation letter with you during the time of interviews or ask your referee to post it to the mailing address. For the Mathematics program, IISER will get in touch with your referees (as listed in your Math application form).
The last date for receipt of completed applications ONLINE is October 31, 2011.
