National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute Applications Are Invited For the Post of Project Scientist / Project Fellow / Lab/Field Project Assistant

National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI), Mohali, is an autonomous R&D Institute under Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. The institute carries out cutting edge research at the interface of agricultural biotechnology, bioinformatics, biostatistics, food processing, postharvest technology, and nutritional sciences. Applications are invited for the following positions under externally funded project  “Transfer and Evaluation of Indian Banana with Pro-Vitamin A (PVA) Constructs”:





Post:
Project Scientist

Essential Qualification:
Ph.D. awarded in any branch of life/plant sciences

Desirable Qualification:
a)  Excellent academic record with  research  experience  in area relevant to  plant  metabolic engineering  and molecular biology
b) Knowledge and experience of Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry based technological analysis of samples and standardization of methodologies for fractionation, separation and identification of bio-molecules.
c) Relevant research publications in reputed international journals with five or more cumulative impact factor.

Project Fellow
Essential Qualification:
Ist Class M.Sc./M.Tech. in  Life Science/  Biotechnology/Biochemistry

Desirable Qualification: Excellent academic record with  interest and knowledge of plant genetic transformation and molecular biology

Lab/Field Project Assistant
Essential Qualification: M.Sc /B. Tech or higher degree in Life Science/  Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/ Botany/ Agriculture/ Agronomy

Desirable qualification:
a) Prior knowledge/experience in plant tissue culture, genetic transformation and maintenance of transgenic plant materials under in-vitro and containment conditions.
b) Prior knowledge/experience for performing  various farm related operations and field experiments.
c) Basic knowledge of computer such as MS Office, Excel, Powerpoint, Internet etc.

The project is a part of the Multi-Institutional Core Project entitled “Development and Transfer of Technology from Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australia to India for Bio-fortification and Disease Resistance in Banana”. Project duration is of four years. However, initial appointment against all the above positions shall be for one year and further extension will be granted based on the research progress and accomplishment, but in no case shall exceed the duration of the project.
