IIM Kozhikode - Fellow Programme in Management

Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) is the doctoral programme of IIMs. IIMs see the Fellow Programme as a crucial source of management researchers and faculty resources of top quality both to the academic institutions including IIMs and to the industry, business, government and society. We started our FPM in the year 2007-08 with the aim of developing top quality researchers, consultants, management experts and faculty resources in the country.

Fellows of IIMs are sought after for teaching positions in management institutions, for top research positions in corporates, and for consultancy and advisory roles. Through its rigorous academic inputs, the Fellowship Programme imparts unique skills and research aptitude required for management teachers and consultants that are not offered by other doctoral programmes. Our doctoral programme incorporates the strengths of similar programmes in other IIMs and also introduces certain innovative features of its own.

Programme Structure:

FPM is designed for a normal period of 4 years. A further extended period of six months is allowed with reduced stipends in special cases. However, with special approval, a candidate is allowed to continue for another 18 months without stipend. In the first two years students are required to complete a course work. This includes going through most of the courses offered in the first year PGP Programme and specialized doctoral level courses. Next two years are devoted for research and completion of the dissertation work.
