University of Oxford - Hilla Ginwala Scholarships

The Hilla Ginwala Scholarship was set up in memory of Mrs Hilla Ginwala by her husband Mr Peston Padamji Ginwala. Mr Ginwala was a noted Indian barrister who studied at Balliol from 1937 to 1939, and wanted to help Indian students who shared Mrs Ginwala's love of learning.

This year the Scholarship is being awarded in partnership with the Clarendon Fund.
Am I eligible?

Candidates should be ordinarily resident in India and should be applying to start any new full-time graduate course, with the exception of PGCert and PGDip courses, at the University.

All subjects will be considered, but with preference for modern languages (i.e. French or Italian).

As the Scholarships are being made in partnership with the Clarendon Fund all candidates must have been selected for a Clarendon Scholarship.
What does it cover?

The Hilla Ginwala Scholarship will provide £10,000 per year towards living expenses. The combined Clarendon – Hilla Ginwala award will cover tuition fees and college fees in full as well as providing a grant for living expenses.

Awards are made for the full duration of a student's fee liability for the agreed course. The continuation of your scholarship each year is subject to an annual renewal process based on satisfactory academic progress.
How do I apply?

Eligible candidates will be considered automatically, provided that you submit your application for graduate study by the January deadline (6 January 2012 for Medical Sciences and Philosophy; 20 January 2012 for all other subjects). You must have secured a place on your chosen programme of study by the expected final decision date (17 March 2012). Applications with an outstanding admissions decision after this date, or applications which are re-evaluated against the later March deadline field, are not eligible for scholarship consideration.
How will I know if I have been successful?

This webpage will be updated to show when all decisions have been made. If you have not heard from us by the time this notice is posted, then your application to this scheme has been unsuccessful. Due to the volume of applications we receive, we are unable to contact unsuccessful applicants individually or provide feedback on applications.

Last Date: 6 January 12
