Union Public Service Commission, conducts Indian Economic Service/Indian Statistical Service Examination, 2012



A combined competitive examination for recruitment to Grade IV of the Services will be held by the Union Public Service Commission commencing from 1st December 2012 in accordance with the Rules published by the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation in the Gazette of India dated the 1st September, 2012. The examination will be held at the following centres:

Educational Qualifications :
A candidate for the Indian Economic Service must have obtained a Postgraduate degree in Economics/Applied Economics/Business Economics/ Econometrics and a candidate for the Indian Statistical Service must have obtained a Post-Graduate degree in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/ Applied Statistics from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutes established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or a foreign university approved by the Central Govt. from time to time

Age Limits :
(a) A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st August, 2012, i.e. he/she must have been born not earlier than 2nd August, 1982 and not later than 1st August, 1991.

Physical Standards :
Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to Indian Economic Service/ Indian Statistical Service Examination, 2012 of the rules for the Indian Economic Service/Indian Statistical Service Examination, 2012 published in Gazette of India dated 1st September, 2012.

Fee :
Candidates (excepting Female/SC/ST/ PH candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay a fee of Rs. 200/- (Rupees Two Hundred Only) either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI, State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/ State Bank of Hyderabad/State Bank of Mysore/ State Bank of Patiala/State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit Card.

HOW TO APPLY:
Candidates are required to apply online only by using the website
www.upsconline.nic.in Brief instructions for filling up the online Application
Form have been given in Appendix-II. Detailed instructions are available on the
above mentioned website.
LAST DATE FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS:
The Online Applications can be filled upto 1st October, 2012 till 11.59 pm,
after which the link will be disabled.
The eligible candidates shall be issued an e-Admission Certificate three weeks before the commencement of the examination. The e-Admission Certificate will be made available in the UPSC website [www.upsc.gov.in] for downloading by candidates. No Admission Certificate will be sent by post. All the applicants are required to provide valid and active E-Mail I.D. while filling up Online Application Form as the Commission may use electronic mode for contacting them.
