NIT Rourkela - Post Doctoral Research Associateships

NIT Rourkela is emerging as a leading centre of research in India in the field of science, and engineering and to a limited extent in social sciences and management. The Institute offers a number of post-doctoral Research Associateships that give opportunity to young researchers to work independently before entering their profession in teaching, research or industry.



Eligibility:
1. Candidates with a Ph.D. degree awarded within the past 2 years or who have submitted thesis in an institute or university of repute for award of Ph.D. degree in a relevant branch of study and having consistently good academic record can apply for the associateships.
2. The candidates must have consistently good academic record with minimum 60% marks or 6.5/10.0 CGPA at both B. Tech. & M. Tech./MBA or B.Sc.(Hons) & M. Sc. Levels before pursuing Ph.D. The Institute may set higher input standards for specific disciplines depending on number of applications received.
3. All degrees must be from reputed institutes preferably from NITs, IITs, IISc or university departments in India or abroad.
4. The Ph.D. degree should preferably have been earned by full time research under continuous and direct supervision of the guides, as opposed to work done in a distant location on part time basis.
5. The Institute is at liberty to set qualifying criteria higher than the above for inviting a candidate to personal interview, depending on the number of applications received in any particular field of research.
6. Selection will also depend on the nature, merit, feasibility of the research topic proposed, as well as on its compatibility with ongoing research areas. Preference will be given to candidates with superior research record, publication in journals of high impact factors, patents and relevance to industrial and other real life applications.

Age limits:
Maximum age limit will be 32 years on January 1, 2012 relaxable by 3 years for women and persons of reserved categories.
